One of my greatest creative loves is my poetry. I love to write, and have been since I was a child. That being said, I love a good journal: a nice journal with a beautiful cover that costs an awful lot.
Unfortunately I do not always have the money to purchase the aforementioned beautiful journals. So instead, I love to buy cheap composition notebooks and make them over.
Making over a composition notebook is easy.
- Niji Splash Inks: blue, yellow, magenta
- White Gesso
- Cheap Composition Notebook
- Origami Paper
- Yasutomo Nori Paste
- Embellishment (I used my own artwork)
Step 1: Cover your book with gesso, and let that dry.
Step 2: Get your Splash Inks, and just add a bit of color to the page. Any way you want to is fine. I made swirlies.
Step 3: Using a brush or you fingers, blend in all the colors at once, and let dry.
Step 4: Rip up some pretty origami paper, and glue to the edge of the book.
Step 5: Embellish! I love to cut out the paintings I’ve made and use them as embellishments. If you don’t want to do that, you can also make color copies, or buy some paper dolls. Glue it on using Nori Paste.
And that’s that! I hope you enjoyed my project today!
